International Balzan Prize Foundation

In January 2009, the International Balzan Prize Foundation and the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences concluded a cooperation agreement  to jointly scientific research as well as to share and disseminate its results in a European and international context. For the Swiss Academies, the cooperation comprises the following important aspects:

- announcement of the field for the call regarding the Balzan Prize of the coming year
- announcements of the laureates
- organisation of an International Forum of Laureates in the year, when the award ceremony takes place in Berne (bi-annually, the first time in 2009)
- organisation of a "Balzan Distinguished Lecture" with a former laureate in the year, when the award ceremony takes place in Rome (bi-annually, the first time in 2010)
