The starting point for the Round Table Project is the science policy maker's desire to better anchor the sciences in society, to let scientists participate in the public's experiential knowledge, while simultaneously boosting public understanding for the concerns of researchers.
Citizens and scientists gathered at the Round Table are on equal footing

For a period of approximately three years, they regularly compare notes and exchange opinions on research topics or projects. The purpose of the reciprocal feedback, exchange of information, arguments, experience and opinions is to bring new perspectives and assessment criteria to light, which on the one the hand could influence and change research activities, and on the other, behavior in daily life.
