Danielle Chaperon studied French, history and art history at the Universities of Lausanne and Lille. After an extended stay in Paris, she received her doctorate in literature from the University of Lausanne in 1994. Since 1998, Danielle Chaperon has been a professor at the Faculté des Lettres at the University of Lausanne. She has published two monographs, one on the astronomer Camille Flammarion, the other on Jean Cocteau. She is also the author of around 100 articles dealing with the relationship between literature and science (popularization, wonderful science, science fiction), between literature and image (illustration, comics, cinema) and with theatre studies. From 2006 to 2016, Danielle Chaperon was Vice-Rector and responsible for teaching at the University of Lausanne
