Focus Climate 2021
Since 2017, the foundations TA-SWISS and Science et Cité have been organizing the participatory Focus event series at the House of Academies in Berne every year.
The aim of the events with changing foci is to pay attention not only to new technologies, but also to those who are affected by it. Consequently, citizens are also cordially invited to actively participate in the debate.
BrainSnack serves easily digestible snacks for the "brain" in the evening and brings together exciting people from science, research and practice. Without long presentations, directly and immediately. Via Zoom and YouTube.
Uncertainty, data and trust
Big Data's the talk of the town. How can novel data and methods such as machine learning be used to address urgent problems of our time - for example climate change or dealing with pandemics? And which data is trustworthy?
The science café becomes virtual and is thus called ViWiCa! Developed in times of #StayAtHome because of Covid-19, we want to experiment with the format. We are curious about the feedback!

Even though important decisions have been taken in recent years, time is running out and the ice is melting. The limit of less than 2 degrees of global warming set at the 2015 climate summit in Paris is extremely difficult to achieve.

We invite Swiss researchers and the public to a "Rendez-vous. Science in dialogue" at the Waisenhausplatz Berne on September 6/7 2019. Because science needs exchange if it is to be socially useful.
50 years moon landing: Berne in space
In 1969, the University of Bern sent the important solar sail experiment to the moon with the Apollo 11 expedition. To mark its 50th anniversary, it is now coordinating a series of events and organising a four-day festival at the end of June entitled "Bern in Space". Science et Cité is taking part in the festival with several events.
The "Living Library Dementia" enables intimate and personal conversations between dementia patients, relatives, interested or affected parties and experts. In this way, it contributes to sensitising people to the topic, disseminating knowledge and combating prejudices and fears.
Bern Museum Night 2018
Das Haus der Akademien war 2018 erstmalig Gast bei der Berner Museumsnacht. Wir öffneten am 16. März ab 18 Uhr unsere Pforten für die Öffentlichkeit und hatten ein abwechslungsreiches Programm entworfen, das unter dem Motto Tête-à-tête mit der Wissenschaft stand.
Die beiden Spoken Word Autoren Gerhard Meister und Matto Kämpf traten als Hirnforscher auf der Bühne auf, um dem schlausten Fuchs auf die Schliche zu kommen. Was kann er alles? Wie hat er sich dem Stadtleben angepasst? Wie verhalten sich die Menschen ihm gegenüber?
