Science Cafes

You can find more information about the Science Cafes and the programs of Bern and Thun on the German website.
The Science Cafes take place in Bern and Thun on Monday evenings at rotating locations. At these events, the audience has the opportunity to engage with experts from the scientific community in a more intimate setting. Attendees can ask questions, voice concerns, or simply listen and enjoy a drink. The goal is to foster accessible dialogue and provide an opportunity to learn about complex topics in an understandable way and discuss them.
A program committee comprising Science et Cité and its partners selects the topics and identifies three suitable experts with diverse perspectives to ensure that each topic is explored from as many angles as possible. Topics are chosen based on current social relevance and the latest research findings. Everyone is welcome without registration (space is limited); admission is free.
Science Cafés in Other Locations Across Switzerland
Additional Science Cafés are held throughout Switzerland. They are organized by local event organizers—sometimes under different names—who tailor the program to the specific needs of each city and region. We support these events with both financial and conceptual contributions.
Additional Science Cafés are held in: Aargau, Graubünden, Fribourg, Neuchâtel, and Zurich.
The Science Cafes in Zurich are held in English.
Check out our calendar to see where the Science Cafés are taking place.
