Before the Covid-19 pandemic, everyone was talking about the climate. But it still remains topical and is heating up the minds. Even though important decisions have been taken in recent years, time is running out and the ice is melting. The limit of less than 2 degrees of global warming set at the 2015 climate summit in Paris is extremely difficult to achieve.
Weather forecaster Sandra Boner from SRF Meteo-Dach will meet the climate researcher Thomas Stocker at the Landhaus in Solothurn on 16 September and present an exciting event for the public. Stocker, one of the world's most renowned climate researchers, will make scientific facts tangible, talk about concrete deeds and visions and answer questions. With contributions from students of the Kantonsschule Solothurn, the Climate Youth of the Canton of Solothurn, the RestEssBar, the start-up Planted and the 2000 Watt Society of the region, an interactive evening is created.
The facts and impending consequences of climate change are well known. Science or science communication obviously does not manage to dispel all doubts or does not reach all people equally. In connection with the Corona pandemic, "Flatten the Curve" became a winged expression and has had an impact. It is essential that many people participate so that ultimately we all benefit. Individual behaviour has an impact on the planet and its inhabitants.
