Today, L'ideatorio is recognised as one of the leading centres for the promotion of STEM subjects in Switzerland and has already welcomed over 6,000 school classes. L'ideatorio includes the House of Science in Cadro, a place for children and adults alike to think, play and experiment.
L'ideatorio is also present in the USI House of Sustainability in Airolo. The village's former post office building is all about sustainability. L'ideatorio runs two planetariums in both Airolo and Cadro.
L'ideatorio began as a small regional offshoot of Science et Cité in Ticino. Over time, the project has been able to develop further through collaboration with the education department of the city of Lugano and the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI). Today, this synergy makes it possible to create numerous projects such as exhibitions, conferences, participatory projects and workshops that bring together scientific research, schools and the public on a common platform for dialogue.
