Epigenetic Memory, Nutrition, and Metabolic Health
Café Scientifique Zürich
Our metabolic health is shaped not only by what we eat today, but also by past nutritional and metabolic exposures that leave long-lasting molecular marks in our cells. We will discuss how nutrition, obesity, and aging can induce persistent epigenetic changes, how these changes influence disease risk and recovery, and what this means for prevention and intervention strategies. The focus will be on recent human and animal data.
Ferdinand von Meyem is a Professor at ETH Zürich, where he leads the Laboratory of Epigenetics, Nutrition and Metabolism. His research investigates how diet and metabolic states shape gene regulation and epigenetic memory, and how these processes influence obesity, aging, and metabolic disease.
