Incentives, Stablecoin, and the Quiet Recentralisation of Money
Café Scientifique Zürich
Blockchain technology has changed how we can verify and coordinate economic activity without central coordination. However, the public story is dominated by speculation rather than durable economic utility. This talk looks at a new turning point: stablecoins that promise cash-like digital money, but also raise a deeper question: are we wirnessing a genuine decentralisation of economic power, or a carefully regulated channel that quietly strengthens existing money to recalibrate debt markets?
Prof. Claudio J. Tessone heads the Blockchain & Distributed Ledger Technologies group at the University of Zürich. the main pillars of his research include consensus analysis and modelling, cryptoeconomics, large-scale blockchain analytics and forensics, and design of token-based economies.
